Hey Assentia,

The pep talks are definitely one of the highlights of NaNo-ing. I was surprised to start reading them and find out they were written by such great authors. And as for being on schedule, I'm not either, but I'm writing right now and hoping to make up the word count I'm missing.

Good luck on your writing! I'm going to keep plugging along, so I'm sure you can, too.

Hey Doug, thanks for the comment! Tony's book sounds interesting, and I've heard enough about him to respect him as a football coach. I'm not a big football person, but I love to hear stories about faith and things like that, so that might be an interesting read. Thanks for letting me know about it!

I'm doing it for the second time. I'm nowhere near on schedule, but I've already written about three times what I managed last year. I don't know if I'll rake up the remaining wordage in ten days, but no sweat; I do it for the pep talks anyway.

Weisberger's book sounds interesting, thanks for the brief review. I've been a little behind on fresh reads as of late but I've recently finished Tony Dungy's book "A Quiet Strength" and eagerly await the arrival (scheduled for Feb. 2009) of the release of his next book entitled "uncommon". If you don't mind sifting through football lingo and game by game recaps "A Quiet Strength" is a great book about faithfullness in times of peril. He talks openly about his son's suicide and how it has affected him and his family.

I'm pretty sure we've never been compared to a Snickers bar! Thanks, Gavin, for your kind words. GNMParents is a community parenting blog, so it brings many voices together in the same spot. That can lead to debate and to sharing and learning- all good things.

So, thanks for coming by and for helping to spread the word.

Parenthacks is a fantastic site- it's also strongly community driven and the meat of the posts is within the comments- it is a great place to have your problems solved!

Thanks again, Gavin :)

Whats everyone doing for safety precautions for Halloween? My husband came across an article (http://i-newswire.com/pr220892.html) with some info about background checking neighbors. I thought that may be a little overboard, but it had some other good suggestions for some precautions I haven't thought about. Last year my youngest son came down with a massive fever after Halloween. I almost thought about just taking the kids to our church's fall festival this year instead of door-to-door to prevent that from happening again. I don't know yet. What's your advice? Am I over-reacting or just being a concerned mom?
