IDK my BFF Walt? Plugging into your kids culture

I was able to spend last week in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania for some vacation. Two of my friends from college, Adam and Marta Myers were gracious enough to to host me in their new house! I had a great week and during my trip I went to watch a few of my college teammates play for the championship in their summer lacrosse league.

While there I happened to run into Walt Mueller, who is the father of one of my college teammates.  Walt is also an expert on youth culture (view his books here) and he runs an awesome non-profit called the Center for Parent and Youth Understanding which is “committed to building strong families by serving to bridge the cultural-generational gap between parents and teenagers” (source: CPYU.org).

In case you haven’t heard of them, they’ve got a great website where they have all types of articles, research and trends studies, resources and a book list.  They cover all areas of teen and youth culture including books, music, movies, lingo, technology and they don’t miss much.  If you have kids, it’s certainly worth checking out.

If your kids are older, they also do a College Transition Initiative to help parents, educators and students with the difficult transition from high school to college.

Walt also does a 60-second daily radio feature that will help equip adults to better understand and respond to the complex and rapidly changing world of their children and teens, all from a distinctively Christian perspective. Check it out here. (source: CYPU.org)

Walt also blogs a few times a week on current youth culture trends at http://learningmylines.blogspot.com

Be to take a couple minutes out of your day to check them out, you won’t be dissapointed!

I tried to subscribe to your feed but it didn’t show up on my homepage at yahoo.com. Is it working correctly?

Sorry to hear that, but as far as I know it is. We do use feedburner for the feed which they’ve had some trouble recently.

    Thanks, just try again!
